I've been to beautiful places and done nothing but watch the rain pour down for a full week. Talk about depressing.
This time, it was a pretty bad hotel ... but the weather was ideal and we we able to get up and out and really enjoy at least that.
I suppose, in the end, brilliant weather trumps luxury. Mother nature rules. Especially if you are a fanatical photography enthusiast! Even more so if you are a couple and both of you are enthusiasts.

Looks like you ended up making a good thing out of a bad situation. At least you had a terrific photoshoot! I forgot to ask how you found the place? Recommendation of a friend (or enemy)? Advertisement? Internet? Just curious. You had to have had some kind of good initial rating...right?
At least you got some great pictures. Is that the little digger thing you mentioned was outside your window? Yoinks :-(
Yes, we got amazing pictures. Perfect weather. Crummy hotel, but it was an gorgeous week by the sea.
We've been to beautiful hotels then sat there and watched the rain pour down for a week ... so I guess all things being equal, we did okay. Mother nature was on our side.
The hotel was a time share (we have one, bought back when we had incomes and everything). Usually, we get amazing, gorgeous places in our exchanges. This is the first time we've gotten a bad swap in 6 years of swapping.
And yes, that big backhoe was right in front of our room AND they started work at 6AM. Including on Sunday.
6am? Wow, that's just wrong. It's actually 0530 on a Sunday right this minute, but at least it's quiet!
It's not just the noise. It's the vibration. Like a little earth quake rumbling through the building. Yeah, I thought it was wrong too.
